Finding the One, the Right One
I’m blogging about this because I find some questions from my friends interesting. At every single time we met, the first update they will ask, will be about how is married life or how is my husband treating me. I seriously feel that, these are not the right questions to ask. It feels like as though they seek advices on finding that right one. Well, I mean, we could start with how are you or how’s work?
Finding the One, the Right One. Apparently to me, this title itself holds a lot of expectations on your part. If you have never listed down the qualities and the responsibilities in your head, there is a possibility you may not find it. Then again, if you have listed everything in your head, there is a possibility that you may not find it either. Listing the “requirements” sets a goal, it makes it clear what you are looking for and what works for you. Listing also could also make you realise that you have very high expectations. Then, this Right One can never be found. If you are disagreeing on high expectations, let’s put at it this way, everyone wants a good partner in their life. It will be kind of funny that you have listed someone of a a bad character to live all your life. Hey... don’t live with such partner, ok?
So what is the Right One, anyway?
I believe everyone has different definition on the Right One. The Right One could be the person who has meet the ‘requirements’ and minus the great expectations. In short, has meet realistic ‘requirements.’ The Right One could be just somebody that you could imagine living your whole life with. Sounds unrealistic but it is not easy also to live with someone you can’t really live with. Truth is, we could list as many Right One definitions but in the end, what actually matters is what do you want?
Do you want to be another person just so that you could have this Right One? Don’t forget the part that when you meet him, you may not be the Right One for him/her either.
The quest is not an easy one. Some really got lucky. Some got hurt. On another note, for some, the quest is worthy.
To me, when you really look at this whole journey, the truth is, it is not really finding the Right One. You may disagree on this but this is of my opinion, it is about finding you. To be a better person each day... the you that you want to be and what more with someone by your side. Sidekicks for life.
For those who are still looking for that significant other to live with, I pray that you meet that person soon. May Allah ease all your affairs. May Allah give you strength.
Just remember, always be you.
